NEIL GROSS is a capital markets policy consultant based in Toronto. He is a member of the CEO Advisory Council at the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) and the national Investor Advisory Panel for Canada’s regulatory coordinating body, the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA). Neil also serves on the Mortgage Brokering Technical Advisory Committee at Ontario’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), the Arbitration Working Group at the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO – formerly IIROC), and FP Canada’s Financial Planning Technology Taskforce.

In addition, Neil is a consulting advisor to the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (OBSI), a director of portfolio management firm Croft Financial Group, chair of the independent review panel for Third Eye Capital Management Inc., and a member of the independent review committees for investment fund managers Harvest Portfolios Group Inc., Goodwood Inc., and Accelerate Financial Technologies Inc.

Previously, Neil enjoyed a 30-year career as a lawyer litigating investor loss claims and regulatory enforcement cases. He then served as executive director of the Canadian Foundation for Advancement of Investor Rights (FAIR Canada) and afterward chaired the OSC’s Investor Advisory Panel for several years while also writing for The Globe and Mail on the social impact of financial regulation.

In the volunteer sector, Neil is a director of Family Councils Ontario – a public charity supporting family advocacy for residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities across the province. He also is a Fellow of the public policy advocacy organization CanAge, and a member of the selection panel for the Portfolio Management Association of Canada (PMAC) annual awards of excellence in investment journalism.
