Thanks to Kevin Prins and Laura Tase of BMO Global Asset Management for the invitation to be part of the ringing of the opening bell at the Toronto Stock Exchange.
BMO is celebrating the launch of 11 new ETFs, 8 of which have a focus on companies that are leaders in ESG (Environment, Social and Governance). This innovation in ESG investing comes from a combined strength of BMO Global Asset Management, a UN Principles Responsible Investing (PRI) signatory since 2006 and MSCI, voted best firm for SRI research, corporate governance, research and indexes. 40 years of experience in ESG research has led to over 1300 firms utilizing their ESG insights as part of their investment process.
The Croft Investment Review Committee has been working closely with the BMO team, along with other leading ETF manufacturers to develop a set of ESG based investment mandates.
ESG investing is associated with expressions such as sustainable investing, socially responsible investing, and impact investing. Specifically, ESG refers to the consideration for environmental, social and governance factors for investment selection.
We believe that by including environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations in our investing activity, we will help to make a positive impact while achieving better results for our clients and we view the launch of these new mandates as a step in the right direction.
