National Bank Independent Network (NBIN)

PRINT

All CFG client investment accounts are held in their own name at National Bank. National Bank Independent Network is one of Canada’s leading providers of custodial, trading, clearing, settlement and record-keeping services to independent registered portfolio managers, introducing brokers and investment fund managers.

Institutional-Grade Security Backed by National Bank of Canada

NBIN benefits from the full cybersecurity framework of its parent company, National Bank of Canada, a major Canadian financial institution. This infrastructure includes:

  • Advanced threat detection and fraud monitoring tools
  • Secure data encryption and protected web environments
  • User-level access controls to restrict and monitor account activity
  • Ongoing updates and industry-aligned practices to mitigate emerging risks

NBIN collaborates closely with National Bank’s broader risk and technology teams to ensure that all platforms and custodial systems meet evolving regulatory and operational standards. As a member of the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), NBIN is required to follow stringent compliance and security protocols.

Secure Account Access via MYPortfolio+

Clients can access account information through MYPortfolio+, NBIN’s secure online portal. While MYPortfolio+ does not currently support multi-factor authentication (MFA), it includes the following safeguards:

  • Encrypted browser sessions (HTTPS) to protect data in transit
  • Username and password authentication
  • Automatic session timeouts after periods of inactivity

Clients are encouraged to:

  • Use strong, unique passwords
  • Change credentials regularly
  • Avoid accessing the portal via public Wi-Fi or shared devices

CFG continues to advocate for ongoing enhancements to portal-level security in alignment with best practices.
