Trusted Contact Person (TCP)

PRINT

At Croft Financial Group (CFG), we are committed to protecting the long-term financial well-being of our clients. One important safeguard is having a Trusted Contact Person (TCP) on file—a trusted individual our team may contact in limited circumstances to help protect a client’s interests.

A TCP serves as a support resource—not a decision-maker—and does not have authority over the client’s accounts or investment decisions.

Purpose of a Trusted Contact Person

The TCP allows CFG to:

  • Take reasonable steps to protect a client’s financial assets if there are signs of possible financial exploitation.
  • Respond to concerns about a client’s cognitive health or ability to make informed financial decisions.
  • Confirm the identity and contact information of legal representatives, such as a guardian, executor, or trustee.
  • Validate or update a client’s contact information when repeated outreach efforts are unsuccessful.

Role and Limitations of a TCP

  • The TCP may be contacted by CFG when there are serious concerns about a client’s safety or ability to manage their financial affairs.
  • The TCP may assist in reconnecting CFG with the client or identifying other authorized representatives.
  • The TCP cannot make investment decisions or trade in a client’s accounts.
  • The TCP does not replace a Power of Attorney or Protection Mandate.

When CFG May Reach Out to a TCP

CFG may contact a Trusted Contact Person if:

  • Unusual or concerning account activity is detected.
  • A client shows signs of confusion, memory loss, or appears to be under duress.
  • CFG is unable to reach the client for an extended period and needs to confirm their safety or location.

Establishing or Updating a TCP

Clients may add or update a Trusted Contact Person at any time by:

  • Speaking directly with their CFG Portfolio Manager or their CFG advisor, or
  • Completing a Trusted Contact Person authorization form HERE

Client Consent and Confidentiality

CFG will only contact a Trusted Contact Person with the client’s prior written consent, and only when it is deemed necessary to act in the client’s best interest. Any information shared is handled with strict confidentiality and in alignment with our Privacy Policy and regulatory obligations.
